Water Treatment Plant Laboratory

The City of Oneonta Water Treatment Plant also has an on-site water quality laboratory.  Many different chemical, biological and physical parameters can be analyzed in the lab. Samples may be processed from the reservoirs and streams, or at the plant itself. On just about every day, water samples are taken from different parts of the distribution system to maintain the quality control of water throughout the city and parts of the town.

The Oneonta Water Lab is certified by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program for the analysis of fecal coliforms, specifically Total coliforms and E. coli. This bacteriological analysis is done for sites in our distribution system and is also conducted for private individuals, businesses, and other public water supplies. This is usually one of the first tests done to assess water quality. If you wish to have this test done, contact the lab at 607-433-3486.

You must first have a sample bottle and the lab staff will tell you how to get it and explain the test.

LAB HOURS:

Sample bottle pickup – Mon. thru Thurs. 8:00 to 11:30 am, and 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Sample drop-off only – Mon. thru Wed. 8:00 to 11:30 am
