 Southside Water Project (2023 Completion)

 WATER!

"From Vision to Reality: Municipal Services Unleashed - Celebrating 16 Years of Pure 'Water' Excellence"

After 16 long years, the Town of Oneonta municipal services are celebrating a monumental achievement with the completion of the Southside Water project. This ambitious initiative aimed to revolutionize the water infrastructure of our town and enhance the quality of life for its residents and businesses. The project, which began in 2007, involved extensive planning, construction, including the installation of state-of-the-art water treatment plants, and the implementation of smart water management systems. The Southside Water project will ensure a more sustainable and reliable water supply, reducing water wastage and promoting conservation. It is expected to greatly improve water quality, address water scarcity issues, and provide a reliable source of clean water for generations to come. The successful completion of this project marks a significant milestone in the town's commitment to delivering essential services to the community.

Otsego County Broadband Data Inquiry The New York State Public Service Commission and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have each published a map online displaying access to data on broadband services and providers at the household level. The county has reviewed these maps and found some inaccuracies, such as, providers listing speeds that were different (higher) than the actual speeds experienced at the household levels. If broadband connectivity and speeds are reported as a higher than they actually are, the effort to address uneven access across the state will be lessened.

We are asking individuals and municipalities to review the maps for accuracy and submit a “challenge” to the FCC by January 13, 2023. If any household needs assistance in reading the map or completing the “challenge” they can reach out to the Otsego County Panning and Solid Waste Dept at 607-547-4225 or planning@otsegocounty.com.

Here are the maps to review: FCC Broadband Map – https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/home How to submit an “Availability Challenge” to the FCC – https://help.bdc.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/articles/10476040597787-How-to-Submit-an-AvailabilityChallenge

The Town of Oneonta is proud to house one of the Counties new Traffic Incident Managment (TIMS) trailers in the new Highway Garage.

Traffic incident management is the process of coordinating the resources of a number of different public and private sector partners to detect, respond to, and clear traffic incidents as quickly as possible to reduce the duration and impacts of incidents, while protecting the safety of on-scene responders and the traveling public. The Otsego County Office of Emergency Services has procured TIMS trailers that will be placed throughout the County for use by fire service when needed.
